flavor of the month.
how i wish we. had. a baskin robbins. nearby.
because you. see.
the flavor of the month. is daiquiri ice. First created in 1962 and back in 2009 by popular demand, lime ice blends with a splash of rum flavoring for a taste of the islands.
loved it. when i was a little. don't ask about the rum...delish. i say. delish.

play. play. we can play all day.
"play play on a summer day.
play play i can play all day."
"...when we play picnic
we swim in our pool;
we sail all our boats
and keep nice and cool."
"...and this is how
we end our play -
we swing a while
on a summer day."

last day.
yesterday. was the last day of school. the last day. until august. not that i'm counting. or anything.
it started out so simply. a rainy day. excitement to go back. and learn. and meet new friends. and play.
and they. did. they had so much fun this year. and now. now it's over. and we said our good-byes. and gave hugs. and made playdates for the summer. but it was a bit melancholy. little one. has been here. for four years. four years. she's made lots of friends. had lots of fun. and now. she's moving on. moving on to kindergarten in the fall. kindergarten.
and little two will be moving up. to the big kids division. because. well. you know. "he a boy now." so on we go. up and out. to meet new friends. have new fun and adventures. learn new things.
i remember the excitement of the last day of school. we'd spend the last few days. packing up. finishing up. and that last day. the classroom would be bare. nothing on the bulletin boards. no tests. or papers or lessons. lots of fun. field day. ice cream treats. that last bell would ring and we'd run out. get our bikes (because we could ride our bikes to school back then). and head home. everyone would be so excited that there was no more school. you could feel the excitement in the air. the possibilities. the wide openness of summer stretched out before you.

glee.
someone. in this house. was almost giddy today. with glee. because. look. what he found at the liquor store.
i know it seems goofy. odd. to be giddy over a beer. but they didn't distribute this here. until now. and we all know. how he feels about some buffaloes.

regrouping.
after this. weekend. and all the festivities.
and pittering around. in the garden.
and i happened to notice.
everything seems. to be purple.
purple.
and i'm not even a fan. of purple. how did this happen? but it sure is pretty.
17 May 2009
i blinked my eyes.
and this one.
little two. suddenly turned three today. three. yes. three.
where has it gone? where has the time gone?
he talks. and runs. and jumps. and colors. and does all kind of boy things. (things. that i didn't teach him.). but most of all. he's just him. all him. and now. now. he's three. "i a boy now, mommy. i a boy." yes. buddy. yes. you are. and you're three. three.

you've got to...
give a little love. and have a lot of attitude. and shake it. shake it.
little one's dance recital was today. and aside from the make up (yee haw she said). and the body glitter (more mommy, more.). there was a lot of attitude. and hip shaking. and giggles. and smiles. and fun. a bit of a ham. we have here. just a bit.
all good attitude. all fun. wish the video had turned out. but a bit of user error.
and afterwards. all we wanted were our flowers. "where are my flowers, mommy?"

god.
so. i'm in line today. waiting for my starbucks. grande skinny half caf latte. extra velvety foam.
little two. was sitting at the checkers table. chucking chess pieces at the table of men in suits - who were not amused by his behavior. i was trying to scold him. but waiting on my beverage, too. i'm sure i seemed a bit. maybe just a wee bit exasperated.
another gentleman. came up to the coffee bar. waiting, too on his beverage. he turned to me and said "hi." i said "hi" back. and looked at him. trying to place him. didn't think i knew him. but he kept looking at me. hmm. couldn't place him.
he kept intently staring at me. a bit uncomfortable. i must say. and i knew i didn't know him. and then he said "twins?" and i knew i didn't know him. don't have any. none in the family. i knew i didn't know him. he continued. "twin girls?" "no" i said. "no - just him" and pointed at little two. as he chucked a horse at the men. "hmmm," he said. " i just had a vision. a vision from god" "that you're going to have twin girls." "from god. a vision of you and twin girls". "nope." i said. "nope." and i thought. what. was that? what was that? he got his drink. and left.
and i am left to wonder. what? what was that all about? my friend, who works there. told me she's never seen him before.
do people do this? do they tell prophesies to strangers? could this be true? surely not. but if it turns out it is. we. are hunting him down. and getting lotto numbers.

things. i can't live without.
how. really. how. did i ever live without these two items?
how did i make it through these. many years. without them. well. ok. i've had them for a few years now. but for the bulk. they weren't here.
i mean really. really. where can you look up pointless. meaningless information. when you're on the pone with a friend. and just must. know. the answer? (like the ages of the housewives. more to come on that.) where else can you self diagnosis any disease you think you might have? where else. can you spend countless hours. finding any and all pictures of a certain birthday cake design? where else. can you locate your home on line and see if the street view is right? i mean really. where did we used to get this information. well. ok. maybe we didn't need it all. but it sure is fun.
and then there's this one.
my absolute favorite. yes. favorite. bravotv.
best tv viewing on tv. project runway. top chef. real housewives. and now. the real housewives of new jersey. can it get better? two words. juicy and delicious. if you haven't stopped into visit these people you might want to. i mean. seriously. it's like they're from a different country. not the u.s. i know. big hair. big egos. just all kinds. all kinds. of big new jersey tackiness. it's going to be wonderful.

how did this happen?
how did this little one.

oh, my. help me. in the fall. she starts kindergarten. and in 18 years she'll be graduating from high school.

with these. cool. sandals.
and i adore this bag. adore. it.

this. is. my life.
my superhero.
on a pink barbie scooter, wearing rainboots (on the wrong feet) and swimming googles. what you can't really see. is the chocolate smeared like indian war paint across his cheeks.
this. is. my life.
10 May 2009
this is what it's all about.
these two crazy. silly. funny. loving. littles.
is what it's all about.
so some days. when there's orange fanta. all over the floor. or pink sharpie. all over my mac. or red sangria. pouring out of the refrigerator. or screaming. the entire way on a three hour flight. or. best yet. glasses. being flushed down the toilet. and i'm thinking.
why? why? why?
i'll remember. and today on mother's day. i'll remember the hugs. and gooey, slobbery kisses, and sweet comments. and all the good, fun, silly stuff. even though little two told his sunday school teachers he loves his mommy because she cleans up....

more new friends.
the littles. well. little one. mostly. is obsessed. obsessed. with having new friends.
and her new friends today, you ask?
well. these little guys.
yes. those are roly-polys. remember them?
"can they eat at the table with us? take a bath? sleep in my bed?"
enough said.

let's go fly a kite...
since the end of the school year. is almost. *gulp*. here. we've been having all kinds of fun.
today was kite flying day. i can't tell you the last time i flew a kite. we tried at the beach a couple of years ago. but twas too windy.
so today. we broke out the little owl kite. with green streamers.
little one. loved it. loved it.
and all i could think of and hum. the whole time. was this song. from mary poppins.

flushed away. part 3.
so remember this post?
well. today. we went back to the eye dr. $323. to replace the flushed glasses. yes. that's $323 dollars. nobody ever said that littles were cheap.
so after the 3 1/2 hour appointment. yep. 3 1/2 hours. wait. exam. exam. lecture. dilation. wait. wait. wait. exam. exam....we went to pick up little 1.
well. i'll spare the boring details. but in the process of picking up little one. little two lost mommy's car keys. claimed he flushed them. yes. flushed them.
and how much does it cost to replace them? only a mere $200. yes. $200.
so his total for the day:
specialist copay: $40
snacks at hospital: $6
eye glass replacement: $323
car key replacement: $200
total cost of little two and it's only 4:00 in the afternoon: $569.00
hmmm...should i deduct this from the college account now. or bill him for it later?

better than brothers.
little one. this am....
"mom. mom! come quick!"
"look what i have!"
"and she's going to live with us."
"and be my new sister. because i think sisters are better than brothers."
01 May 2009
flushed away. literally. flushed away.
remember these cute glasses? that helped little two see much. much. better?
well. there was one casuality. while mom and dad were in colorado.
the glassess. got flushed. literally flushed away. gone. but not forgotten.
and now. we have to get a new pair. because we do. because our super nice doctor (who laughed first) said we have to have some.
so we're off to the eye doc. again. to check our prescription. before we invest again. i believe this is pair six since july. july. folks. and it's only may. that's six pairs in ten months. six pairs.
